Gunther Rohrer
Sr. Information Architect
I've been an Inovian for almost five years, all of which have been spent managing the company's intra- (and sometimes extra-) net. Before coming to Inovis, I managed corporate intranets for seven years at Pacific Gas & Electric and then Charles Schwab. I'm also known as the "SharePoint guy". I run the system that hosts the internal collaboration sites for projects and teams, the directory, and org charts. In a company devoted to handling huge volumes of highly-structured data in a very consistent manner, I have the envied position of getting to work on a different project everyday. In addition to keeping the intranet humming, most of my time goes to internal process improvement projects. At Inovis I've discovered a dynamic group of people that are always re-examining the approach to their daily work; looking for efficiencies in communication, accountability, and execution. I sit down with everyone from the folks that process our customer billing credits, to the engineers that work on our products. Together we map out workflows and structures that help them, and the other teams they interact with, get more work done in less time. The upshot is that everybody wins and no one is short on expressing their appreciation for this service.
Outside of the office I'm, well...—outside of the office, on my bike! I live just down the San Francisco Bay Trail from our Richmond site, so my commute rings the marshes and marinas of the area. My new obsession is tweaking my fixed-gear bike and reading all about this weird culture. Getting to ride into the office every morning is, like they say, "priceless." Getting to work on new and exciting projects that people really appreciate is icing on my cake!
