QRS Names James Rowley Sr. VP of Engineering & CTO

RICHMOND, Calif. – May 09, 2002 – QRS Corporation (Nasdaq: QRSI), a market leader in supply chain technology for the retail industry, today named James G. Rowley senior vice president of engineering and chief technology officer.

Rowley brings to QRS more than 15 years' experience with leading enterprise software applications companies managing complex technology product development and implementation. He has a proven track record of advancing early-stage technology companies to marketplace success. At QRS, he will spearhead the development and enhancement of software applications to address the supply chain technology needs of the retail industry, including real-time transaction delivery, product information management and online planning and procurement.

"With James' appointment we have in place the technology leadership that will drive the company's future growth," said Liz Fetter, president and CEO of QRS Corporation. "Not only will James be instrumental in solidifying QRS' leadership position as an innovator of supply chain technology, but his enterprise software background will be critical to our goal of providing market-leading solutions. As CTO, he will shape the technology vision for the next generation of applications."

Rowley most recently served as senior vice president of engineering and CTO at CrossWorlds Software, where he was responsible for the architecture, technology, product and strategic direction of the company's offerings. During his tenure, CrossWorlds shipped on time three generations of market-leading enterprise application integration (EAI) software for Fortune 100 customers, including General Motors, Dow Chemical, Dupont, Nortel and General Electric. In April, QRS announced an agreement with IBM Corp., whereby QRS will incorporate the CrossWorlds business process integration technology within the QRS product line. This combination will enable QRS' retail industry customers to accelerate the implementation of QRS solutions and realize a more rapid return on investment.

Before CrossWorlds, Rowley served as vice president of applications engineering for Scopus Technology, where he led technical account management teams worldwide. As a senior director of engineering at Siebel Systems and a member of the company's original management team, Rowley delivered a market-leading application and oversaw the rapid growth of his team. Rowley also was with Oracle Corp. for more than seven years and held a variety of management positions around the globe in development, consulting and support. He is a recognized leader in the technology industry and has been published in various industry and technology journals. James Rowley succeeds Sean Salehi, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities.

"I'm excited about the in-depth knowledge of the retail industry that exists within QRS," Rowley said. "I am looking forward to being a part of this world-class team in achieving new levels of product development, while maintaining our strong commitment to our current customers. We will add to QRS' tradition of understanding the challenges customers face in an increasingly competitive industry and guiding its customers through the ever-changing technologies and standards in the retail industry."
