Sealy Implements QRS Exchange Solution for Improved Commerce Responsiveness

RICHMOND, Calif. – May 14, 2002 – QRS Corporation (Nasdaq: QRSI), a market leader in supply chain technology for the retail industry, announced today that Sealy, Inc., the largest mattress manufacturer in the world, has implemented QRS' Internet Transaction Exchange to support electronic commerce with its global trading community for improved business responsiveness. QRS' Internet Transaction Exchange is a hosted IP-based network that supports the transfer of real-time electronic information over the Internet.

Sealy, which manufactures and markets bedding under the brands Sealy, Stearns & Foster and Bassett, is using QRS' Internet Transaction Exchange to quickly adapt to emerging Internet protocols and data standards required for real-time communication with global trading partners. This QRS Exchange solution provides Sealy with a seamless and easy-to-implement IP-based tool that securely transmits data to its community of retailers, including major department stores and bedding retailers worldwide. QRS' Internet Transaction Exchange gives Sealy the ability to support FTP, HTTP or SMTP protocols over the Internet secured with IBM certificates.

"As our global trading community expands, Sealy must remain flexible enough to quickly react to the changing needs of our trading partners," said Eric Scheerer, e-commerce technical specialist at Sealy. "QRS products like Internet Transaction Exchange enable us to communicate securely with retailers such as Dillard's without introducing new software or requiring system downtime. By implementing QRS at Sealy, we have increased our flexibility and interoperability compared to the traditional modes of transporting EDI data."

QRS Exchange solutions -- including Internet Transaction Exchange, Enterprise Business Exchange, Data Exchange, Web Forms and Managed EC -- feature all the necessary components to manage supply chains and optimize business operations. Whether hosted, IP-based or fully managed, QRS Exchange solutions support the largest retail trading community, offering customers economies of scale and scope, and rapid return on investment with easier network set-up and lower maintenance costs.
