Stride Rite Corporation Moves Ahead with QRS for Improved Retail Trading Community Performance

RICHMOND, Calif. – January 21, 2003 – QRS Corporation (Nasdaq: QRSI) announced today that The Stride Rite Corporation (NYSE: SRR) has expanded its relationship with QRS to consolidate a majority of its trading community transactions through a single technology provider. A QRS customer since 1991, Stride Rite had been using multiple vendors to exchange information, including crucial item and order data, to retailers. Now, Stride Rite will use QRS Exchange™ and QRS Catalogue™ as its preferred solution to provide a more cost-effective and collaborative trading network for the majority of its retail partners.

Previously, Stride Rite had used three separate commercial catalogues – including QRS Catalogue – for maintaining and communicating product information to its trading partners. Each catalogue had different product data requirements and billing structures. By making QRS Catalogue and QRS Exchange the preferred solution for its trading partner transactions, Stride Rite reduces fees and avoids duplication of information. By streamlining trading partner collaboration, Stride Rite saves time and money, while maintaining data integrity throughout the organization.

"Consolidating our e-commerce software and services and using QRS as our main solution have benefited both Stride Rite and our retail partners," said Yusef Akyuz, CIO, The Stride Rite Corporation. "With QRS we have reduced order errors and cycle times, which translates to reduced costs and better service for our customers."

QRS Catalogue allows manufacturers and suppliers to synchronize current, accurate product information on more than 90 million items with retailers in North America. QRS Catalogue enables Stride Rite to inform retailers of what products are available to purchase and, through data synchronization and standardization, ensures that the right item gets ordered at the expected price and quantity.

Stride Rite's decision to expand its use of QRS Exchange makes it possible for the company and its trading partners to effectively communicate with one another and complete e-commerce transactions, regardless of a company's size or technology infrastructure. QRS Exchange allows Stride Rite's trading partners to select their preferred method of communications for conducting business.

"By using QRS, leading retail brands like Stride Rite can improve their trading community performance, accelerate supply chain processes and fulfill consumer demand," said Liz Fetter, president and CEO of QRS. "Stride Rite Corporation is a valued customer of QRS, and we are proud to provide our collaborative commerce solutions to power its retail trading community."
