Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation Powers Over Competition with Inovis

VAN Consolidation Yields 60% Savings, 100 Percent Order Accuracy, Improved Customer Service

Atlanta — February 25, 2004 — Inovis, a provider of business commerce automation solutions, today announced that Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty, portable electric power tools and accessories, has reduced costs, achieved new operational efficiencies and increased customer service with the help of Inovis. Through the combination of moving its e-commerce processing in-house and outsourcing its EDI transactions to Inovis, Milwaukee Electric Tool has achieved significant results throughout its supply chain: 60 percent reduction in Value-Added Network (VAN) costs; increased order accuracy to nearly 100 percent; and decreased the average cost of an order.

Milwaukee Electric Tool chose Inovis to save money while improving accuracy and trading partner adoption. Milwaukee Electric Tool implemented TrustedLink, a data transformation tool to facilitate communications and commerce between trading partners, and also consolidated its EDI transactions on the Inovis VAN.

“Inovis has proven to be a trusted, reliable and extremely cost-effective partner,” said John Streff, EDI administrator for Milwaukee Electric Tool. “With business-critical transactions happening daily, we know that if it comes into our system through the Inovis VAN, the information is secure and accurate. Having worked with many EDI vendors to ensure the highest service levels, I can confidently say that Inovis has the highest quality of service and has saved us money, giving us piece of mind and an edge over the competition.”

Milwaukee Electric Tool has a reliable single point of access to securely exchange data transactions with its trading partners, distributors and retailers worldwide. In addition, the company can now transact with its customers using the AS2 protocol, meeting mandates from its key trading partners, and ensuring that data is sent securely and in nearly real-time.

Milwaukee Electric Tool now operates a virtually problem-free EDI environment with more than 99 percent up time, and has increased its volume of business transactions while reducing the cost by one third. The company has cost-effectively expanded its sales and supplier channels while streamlining the cost of processing orders, building its product and invoicing customers.

“Inovis arms manufacturers and retailers with the tools necessary to do business with their trading partners more efficiently and effectively,” said Michael Croxton, senior vice president of marketing for Inovis. “Our goal is to allow our customers to focus on their core competencies while outsourcing critical business functions to a proven, trusted partner. Inovis’ industry-leading solutions guarantee best-in-class service. Our flexible communications capabilities allow companies to significantly reduce the cost of doing business electronically, increase customer satisfaction, and comply with new communications protocols as they arise.”
