Inovis Simplifies RosettaNet Implementations with Complete, Out-of-the-Box Solution

Business Commerce Automation Specialist Combines Vertical Domain Expertise and Proven Technology to Launch Line of Industry-Specific Offerings

ATLANTA and ANAHEIM, Calif. — May 25, 2004 — Inovis, a leading provider of business commerce automation solutions, today announced the availability of its IndustryLink for RosettaNet solution. IndustryLink for RosettaNet is a purpose-built solution that provides electronics manufacturers and suppliers with the ability to reduce the cost and complexity of compliance with RosettaNet, the consortium that sets the standards for aligning e-business processes within the electronics industry.

IndustryLink for RosettaNet is the first offering in Inovis’ new line of IndustryLink solutions providing for the specific electronic trading requirements germane to individual vertical markets. This launch builds on the leadership that Inovis has provided through participation in the development of the standard and through building solutions for customers that are champions of RosettaNet.

Inovis has a proven record providing business commerce automation solutions to the electronics industry, with more than 1,500 high technology manufacturing companies that rely on Inovis’ comprehensive portfolio of electronic data interchange (EDI) transformation, connectivity and managed services solutions. Inovis has also provided many of these customers with customized solutions and support for RosettaNet and is leveraging this deployment experience in the development of IndustryLink for RosettaNet.

Inovis is demonstrating IndustryLink for RosettaNet at the RosettaNet Global Partner Conference held in conjunction with the Uniform Code Council, Inc. (UCC)’s annual U Connect Conference this week at the Hilton Anaheim Resort in Anaheim, Calif.

"Customers are looking for streamlined solutions to meet the requirements of vertical mandates and initiatives such as RosettaNet," said Shawn Willett, principal analyst at Current Analysis. "They want the complexity taken out of implementing the often-complex processes around RosettaNet and other standards. Solutions such as IndustryLink can definitely shorten time to implementation."

RosettaNet was formed in 1998 to address inefficiencies in the electronics industry by creating a common e-business language for data exchange and inter-enterprise process flow among trading partners.

"RosettaNet has achieved tremendous support in the high technology industry, with thousands of documented production implementations worldwide", said Jennifer Hamilton, RosettaNet president and CEO. "With the continued delivery of complete out-of-the-box solutions by Inovis and other members of the RosettaNet solution provider community, we anticipate that the adoption rate for small to midsized companies will grow exponentially."

"The success of RosettaNet as a standard foundation for e-business communications in the electronics industry will ultimately hinge on the ability of manufacturers further up the supply chain to become RosettaNet enabled,” said Michael Croxton, senior vice president of marketing for Inovis. “IndustryLink for RosettaNet draws on our deep vertical domain expertise servicing the electronics industry to deliver a solution that organizations of all sizes can deploy right to quickly achieve ROI from their RosettaNet implementations."

IndustryLink for RosettaNet is certified compliant by RosettaNet, through the organization’s RosettaNet Ready™ certification program. In addition to Inovis’ RosettaNet offering for the electronics industry, future IndustryLink solutions will deliver prepackaged business commerce automation solutions to accommodate the needs of the retail/consumer products, automotive and petrochemical industries.

Feature-Rich Functionality
IndustryLink for RosettaNet provides an end-to-end holistic solution for compliance focusing on minimal infrastructure investments, comprehensive feature functionality and low-cost deployment. The IndustryLink for RosettaNet solution allows companies to quickly adopt RosettaNet by pre-configuring and automating many of the steps involved with a RosettaNet implementation. The main features of the solution include:

  • A completely self-contained application — no additional software to purchase
  • Multiple wizards to guide a user through deployment
  • Built-in translation engine capable of handling XML as well as other file formats
  • Instant compliance guaranteed by RosettaNet Ready™ Badge
  • Complete control of trading partner agreements allowing for customization of communication, data, and even process definition on a per partner basis

Inovis’ proven business process management engine, which the company inherited from its Extricity heritage, powers the process orchestration component of IndustryLink for RosettaNet. This engine can be leveraged by organizations to build additional workflows and drive supply chain efficiencies through the solution’s superior support for flexible business processes.

IndustryLink for RosettaNet supports multiple Partner Interface Processes® (PIPs®), which outline how business processes must be accommodated and completed as defined by standards in the industry. Business processes supported include critical supply chain functions like order management, inventory management, product information and product lifecycle management. Each validated and certified PIP is available as a package or an add-on module to the solution. /p>
